About Us

The Muskoka & District Chefs Association was founded in 1980 and covers a very large area north of Toronto , west to Owen Sound and as far east as Kingston , Ontario .

We are a non-profit organization, with a community minded base and a camaraderie outlook. Our Club meets on the second Monday of each Month at various locations throughout the Muskoka area, except during the summer months.

We have a current membership of nearly 150 that are made up of Junior members, Associate Members, Cooks, Chefs and Certified Chef de Cuisine members.

We are one of the largest and most active branches of the Canadian Culinary Federation, who are in turn a member of the World Association of Chefs Societies.

Our Junior Branch is recognized by the CCF as the best Junior Branch in Canada , setting new standards that other branches are adopting.

Our Association gets involved with many community charity fundraisers each year. Some of the groups we have been involved with are Hospice Barrie, Hospice Orillia, and the Canadian National Institute for the Blind.Without the help of our Associate members, we would be unable to support those charities and groups by hosting fund raising luncheons and gala dinners. The Chefs Association provides all the support needed to make these events a great success. Even members families and staff donate their time. These events have become very well known within the community. Tickets are always quick to sell out, due to high standards that the Chefs Association set for any event that they become involved in.

Bernie Meier CCC Bursary

The “Bernie Meier Bursary” which was set up in memory of Teacher, Master Baker and Pastry Chef Extraordinaire Bernie Meier, to honour top Students with exceptional skills and marks. We are proud to have such talented Junior Members in our Club.

Annual Golf Tournament

The MDCA holds an annual fun filled Golf Tournament, usually in June of each year. Some of the fine courses we have had the pleasure to tee off from are, Horseshoe Valley , Deerhurst Inn, Grandview Inn and Hawk Ridge Golf and Country Club.

Cost of membership

Chef Membership in the Muskoka & District Chefs Association is a joint membership in the Canadian Culinary Federation

The applicant must hold a valid Certificate of Qualification for the Trade of Cook , a TQ5 if trained with the Canadian Armed Forces or similar Certification from any Province where applicable, or an equivalent Certificate from any member country of W.A.C.S. (World Association of Chefs Societies).

Applicants shall also be considered for membership if they do not meet the above criteria provided they are recommended by a Branch President and two (2) other members in good standing of that branch and meet this criteria. They must be currently working for a documented minimum period of eight (8) years in the Trade of Cook or as a Pastry Chef/Cook or as an Instructor at an accredited College, Foodservices or Hospitality Institution

Such applicants shall appear before a committee of peers, chaired by the local CCI Chair for ratification.

A membership application may also be obtained from the Canadian Culinary Federation Website in MS WORD

Le demandeur doit avoir un certificat de qualification validé comme cuisinier, ou un TQ5 de l'armée canadienne ou l'équivalence de toute autre province, ou un certificat équivalent de n'importe quel pays membre de W.A.C.S. A Junior Chef Membership in the Muskoka & District Chefs Association is a joint membership in the Canadian Culinary Federation $25.00 Annually, No initiation fee, GST 5% included MDCA ~ CCF Junior Member Junior Members upgrading to a National Membership have their initiation fee waived This category provides for membership during one's apprenticeship or course of study in a food service environment or recognized school of culinary training. Junior membership is seen as an ideal opportunity for young culinarians to become acquainted with their peer groups; attend specialized functions and educational seminars; develop networking resources for future employment and competitions. The applicant may retain junior membership until he/she has attained certification as a Journeyman after which the member will be invited and required to become a national regular member. An Associate Membership in the MDCA $150.00 annually A one time initiation fee of 200.00 applies to new members and to lapsed members. As an Associate member of the Muskoka & District Chefs Association, your organization will have the opportunity to address, interact and socialize with other chef members in the Muskoka area.
